About AKA

Kellie

Kellie I have enjoyed reading for my whole life and I remember as a girl, reading 'Little Women' over and over again. A few years back, a few school friends and I formed a book club, where we would meet at a cafe once a month to discuss the month's book (from a wide range of genres) and enjoy coffee, cake . . . and more cake! One month, the book of choice was Fifty Shades Of Grey, and from there on, I discovered I loved reading anything in this genre, be it contemporary romance, NA, YA, or erotica, I was reading it, and loving it. Girls at work read FSOG about the same time as I did, and we pretty much discussed books all day every day from then on (ssh, don't tell my boss!). Two of those girls and I decided we should start a blog to share the books we love with other readers, and from there A.K.A The Book Harlots Review was born ( the A.K.A is for our initials Amanda, Kell and Alicia). I have made many friends since starting the blog including authors, readers and fellow bloggers, some of which, I have been lucky enough to meet at different Australian author events. I also have a discussion group on facebook called ‘Kell’s Bookmark Clique’ where we chat about all things books. It is a fabulous group of like minded people that share a love of reading this genre. It’s a positive, caring group and you are most welcome to join. We have giveaways, takeovers and lots of your favourite authors are in there.

Amanda

I've loved getting lost in different worlds for as long as I can remember, I even started creating my own stories before I knew how to write. My mother seeing this love of imagination from all of her daughters had started teaching us how to read, buying many books that we would sit and go through with her, including the full length version of Oliver Twist. Though I did not particularly enjoy that story at the time (I'm not sure many four/five year olds would), I treasured my Beatrix Potter and Banjo Paterson collections and that is truly where my obsession with literature began. From there, there were many other books devoured by my hungry mind, though not too many romance novels, not until FSOG .

It was when FSOG was first released and romance increased  in popularity that I first started reading more Contemporary, NA and other types of romance novels, discussing recently read books with two of my friends (also coworkers. We of course never discussed books at work, no never *coughs*), Alicia and Kell. On their recommendation I read books such as Beautiful Disaster, Slammed and Easy, which truly cemented my love for the genre. From there we talked about all of our other favourite book boyfriends, looking for more, and soon other friends and relatives were asking us which books we'd recommend. That is where A.K.A begun and I am so thankful to have met two amazing women in Alicia and Kell, plus to have been introduced to so many other readers, as well as quite a few wonderfully talented authors. The book world is such a beautiful place to be a part of.
