Taste Test by L.B. Dunbar

In a modern twist of fairy tales, what if the beast is a woman instead of a man?

Ethan Scott
I was about to find out when a mysterious job led to the secluded home of a horror novelist. I’d lost everything: my scholarship, my education, and my way. In denial of my family inheritance, I took the unusual employment as a chance out of a hole, but I found myself buried in the unknown trauma of another situation much deeper.

Ella Vincentia
I had changed my name and my address to keep myself hidden, but my scars were more than physical. Living as a recluse in the woods, I was used to being alone, so I wasn’t happy when a certain someone was always in my space. Our first encounter was less than pleasant and tension continued at every attempt to tame me.

Secrets
I knew she was keeping secrets and I wanted to help, but she was cutting me down and cutting me off every time she opened her mouth. Our frustration with one another grew until a misunderstanding changed everything. How can I be the next guy after something so tragic? It was a challenge I wasn’t sure I was willing to take.

Return to Elk Rapids for this stand alone romance adventure of Ethan Scott and Ella Vincentia. Due to mature themes, appropriate for 17+.

First of all, this can be read as a standalone novel. Some characters from the first book are mentioned here, but, you don't have to read Sound Advice first, to enjoy Taste Test.

I have read LB Dunbar's first book in the 'Sensation' series, 'Sound Advice', and was so impressed, I couldn't wait for the second book 'Taste Test', and I wasn't disappointed. This book was a great read!
This is the story of Ethan and Ella, who are both trying to overcome their pasts, and find what they really want in life. A modern day adaptation of Beauty and the Beast, where the author has the leading lady as the 'beast', even though she is beautiful inside and out, which Ethan recognises straight away. He is a great leading man, that has empathy and love for Ella, and is determined to break down her walls, whether she likes it or not. Ella has many secrets that she is hiding, and I found myself wanting to save her, shake her and console her, myself several times. I loved their banter, and especially Ella's fiery side when she was determined to get her own way, Ethan is relentless though and won't give up on her.

The scenery is described in precise detail, which I love about the authors writing. I pictured the house and the lake so clearly in my mind that I felt like I was there with them, and was glad to see it set in Elk Rapids again, as I have a clear picture of how this town looks, smells, and feels. I want to visit!
'Taste Test', as with Dunbar's first book 'Sound Advice', is a book for everyone wanting that something extra in their books. I explain both her books as a love story with a twist, and so much more. I hope you read my review and decide to buy this book, because it is a great story that will change your way of thinking, and will have you looking at situations and people in a different light. 5 HUGE stars! <3
