Discovering Stella by K.M.Golland

Stella Walker is twenty-six years old and hiding from a past that haunts her on a daily basis. In a desperate attempt to escape the torment of her memories, she tries to rebuild her life and move on.
She seeks the seclusion of a rural town and tracks down a distant relative who Stella knows will give help, but who is unaware of the past she is trying to flee.
What Stella doesn’t anticipate, is meeting Lawson Drake.

Lawson Drake is twenty-nine years old, a mechanic who owns an auto service and smash repair shop. When he comes across a broken-down car by the side of the road, he is intrigued by its owner — a caramel-eyed brunette who clearly has a score to settle, not only with her defective vehicle, but with anyone who tries to get too close. The thing is, Lawson wants close. He wants more than close. He wants as close as he can possibly get.

Can Lawson help Stella to fix her broken heart, and discover herself again?

Review:
I've had this book on my TBR list for a little while now after having read some of K.M.Gollands other works, which had had both great story lines and characters that were believable. When I first dived in to reading Discovering Stella I was expecting the same kind of brilliant writing style, and K.M certainly did not disappoint. It was enthralling, poignant and beautiful, with characters that made it extremely easy to fall in love.

Stella and Lawson's story is not rushed, readers are given time to know about each of them and to establish that there are more interesting facets of information to come, whilst also still managing to gain a sense of who they are. Stella was a woman running from her past, trying to forget, though struggling to move on. She was not living a life full of moments she was able to enjoy, instead just trying to escape anything that would make her feel. Then along came Lawson and her carefully constructed walls started to crack, as he tried to find a way through to her.

Both characters showed amazing strength, Stella had a past that would be crippling for anyone and that would make it hard to trust again, yet she showed so much courage when she started to let in those around her. However with the pace at which Stella revealed what troubled her, constantly pushing others away, not everyone would of had the patience nor caring nature to keep on coming back, but Lawson would not give up, he was determined to save her. To be her knight in shining armour.

Lawson was not only kind, but also funny and romantic. His lovely gestures constantly had me smiling and sent my heart fluttering, making it only that much more understandable of why Stella might fall for him. The witty banter between the two was also hilarious, causing me to laugh out a loud a couple of times. Though those parts of their relationship were heartwarming it was the connection formed upon and strengthened by trust, that was truly the most magnificent part of their journey together.
