Reveal by K.M.Golland

“I have a diary because I’m not who I say I am.
The ‘me’ you see, isn’t me.
She’s fabricated for your liking.
Trust me, you don’t want to turn my pages.”

Emily Davis has a secret … or two. Even her best friend, Cori, is none the wiser. You see, Em is a part-time sexter and makes a living fooling men into believing whatever it is she wants them to believe. And she’s not ashamed about it. Not in the slightest. Yet, those around her could be, which is why she has kept it a secret ... until now. Until a sun-tanned, male revue performer by the name of Brad surfed into her life.

Surfer Brad pushes Em’s boundaries, pushes her buttons and pushes his way into her heart. But will she push him away when she has no choice but to reveal what it is she's hiding? Everything she’s hiding?

Review:
From the moments that Brad and Em featured in Revue, I knew that when their own story was released that it would be a riveting read, and it was; Reveal is made up of smart and hilarious paragraphs that are thoroughly entertaining, the humour had me laughing out loud and highlighting passages that made me smile. Along with the laughter, I also found myself feeling other emotions in relation to what the characters were feeling.

Reveal follows the journey of Emily and Brad, Emily is Cori's best friend and Brad is one of the male revue dancers. Their is definitely a connection between the two, though Em at times, feels hesitant in acting too strongly upon her attraction in fear of where it might lead.

Em this beautiful and strong woman who seemed so confident, had a whole other side to her that made her relatable, she wasn't just what she appeared to be on the outside, her thoughts, both confident and insecure were expressed so well on page that it was easy to absorb them and empathise. Even though some of her actions did feel a little over the top and a little too out there (gym scene), there were ones, that had they been real life, I would have stood and applauded her ability to be who she was without letting what others might think hold her back. Em owned who she was, mostly, only hiding the parts of herself she thought family and friends might have trouble understanding. Part of what she was hiding included Mike (a.k.a Mr.Happy).

Mr happy plays a big part in the story, though I'm not quite sure I believed the connection he was supposed to hold. From the messages shared between him and Em, I just never felt the depth and it left me wanting a little more emotion in the original type of interaction between the two, instead of just reading a mention every now and then in Em's thoughts that they had shared deeper conversations. Em and Brad's relationship however was the complete opposite in its believability.

From the moment the two performers met there was an immediate attraction that lead to a relationship that never felt insincere. The pace at which they moved and shared who they were was never rushed, giving time for readers to also learn about each of them and form an opinion on where they'd like the relationship between the two to go. The whole time from when they first met, I wanted Em and Brad together, and though it seemed like that's how the story would end, there were a few twists thrown in that left me feeling a little worried that that might not happen.
The beauty of KM Golland's writing however, is that even though parts of the story may be upsetting, her witty and lickable...sorry likeable characters..always manage to lift you back up again. Yes there were sentences where I was left feeling a little disappointed, but the good far out weighed any of those and had me turning the pages wanting more of the characters I did enjoy reading about. I'm definitely looking forward to reading any future Wild Nights books that might be to come in the series, especially if they involve lots of Noah and Dimps.

EXCERPT

“Ugh! That’s it. I’m getting a boob job,” I groaned, fastening my strapless push-up bra and adjusting what little cleavage I had.
Cori walked into the bathroom and leaned over the basin to get close to the mirror. “On’t be ’upid,” she mumbled while meticulously applying her red lipstick.
“I’m not. I want tits. Big, round, perky tits.”
She turned toward me and eyed my beestings. “No, you don’t.”
“That’s easy for you to say. You have tits.”
“So do you!”
“Lies. All lies. Best friends are not supposed to lie to one another,” I huffed, lifting my arms and applying deodorant.
“Fine. You belong to the Itty Bitty Titty committee. Big deal. At least you don’t have an arse the size of a small swimming pool.” She twisted and assessed her butt.
“Pah-lease! You’ve got to be kidding. There’s nothing wrong with your arse.”
“Says you!” she mocked, pressing her lips together and blotting her lipstick. “Seriously though, listen to us. We females are never entirely happy with our appearance. Always nit-picking. Always finding faults. We’re our own worst enemies and biggest critics. And for what reason other than to highlight our flaws and feel inadequate? It’s just stupid.”
I stared down at my little breasticles with sorrow. They deserved love. It wasn’t their fault they were smaller than most. I really should treat them better. “You’re right,” I said, looking back up. “They’re underdogs, and everyone should love underdogs.”
She blotted her lips together once more. “They should.”
“In fact, I will parade my teeny puppies tonight. I will wear them with pride.”
She nodded. “Good girl.”
I hiked them in my cupped hands, feeling empowered. “I know! Let’s start a revolution.”
Cori laughed. “Let’s not. I know what your revolutions entail.”
Greatness. That’s what they entail. Pure fucking greatness.
